Don’t let your cruise be the first place you realize that you get seasick. Not knowing can put a huge damper on your plans. You will be bedridden, recovering from the seasickness, and not having fun. Try to find out beforehand if you are prone to seasickness, so you can come prepared with medication, if necessary.

To be a responsible world traveler, check into the current political and social climates of any nation to which you are traveling. Check online for information and updates about anything happening overseas that could affect your travel plans. Checking this site out will prevent you from traveling to a potentially dangerous country.

While you are ordering your airline tickets look for ways to ensure your flight is comfortable. Perhaps you are able to select specific seats on the plane. Many times you can pick the specific area or seat on the plane that you want, however, sometimes this is not possible. If reserving a seat is not available at the time of booking, check back on a regular basis to see when if this option opens up. By doing this, you will not be stuck with whichever seats are available. If there is one available, request a room on a higher floor. Although it might seem inconsequential, burglars can access your room more easily if it’s on the first or ground floor. Additionally, request a room that has a window but not sliding glass doors. A room with a sliding door can be broken into more easily.

Make sure you don’t fall asleep before eight pm so you can adjust faster to a different time zone. Going to bed too early can keep you set to your natural time zone; that will make jet lag worse. The quicker you get used to local time, the quicker jet lag will fade.

If your travel time is a long one, make sure to get up at least once an hour to stretch your legs, even if it means taking an unnecessary trip to the bathroom. Sitting for prolonged periods of time can cause health problems. If you wear them, have an extra pair of eyeglasses with you when you travel. This is so you have another pair, should your other ones break. Put them in your luggage in case your purse or carry on bags were lost or got stolen.
